The oak tree is a gatherable. Rez it on your land and any colonist with a lumberjack axe — forged by a smith — can left-click it and chop. When the felling finishes the top of the tree turns physical and falls over, the logs are handed to the chopper, and a little of the axe's durability goes with them.
Oak logs go to the Logging Station, which needs no tool of its own. One log cuts into two large planks, those into four medium, those into eight small, and those into forty wood scraps. Oak is the busiest of the timbers: oak planks and oak wood scraps run through the Carpentry Bench, and the oak barrel it builds sits behind every whiskey, vodka, sake and wine barrel in the game.
The wood is the point of choosing a species. The carpentry and furniture benches both care what a part was cut from, and oak chips are what most aging recipes ask for, so an oak stand is rarely idle.
Owners should know about the spawn points. Hold left-click on the tree and let go after a second to open the owner menu, then use Set point to record where it may come back — anywhere on the same sim, at any altitude. Set several and the forest moves. Picking the tree up and re-rezzing it clears them all.
