The Logging Station is the woodsman's bench and the start of nearly every wooden thing in the colony. No tool is required — one is built into the station.

The chain is a doubling ladder, and it is worth seeing whole:

> 1 log → 2 large planks → 4 medium → 8 small → 40 wood scraps

Each step halves the size and doubles the count. Cutting a log into large planks is level 0 and thirty seconds; every step below that is level 1 and a minute — so a woodsman who has not levelled can make large planks and nothing else, which is the wall most people hit first.

Four woods run the full ladder: oak, fir, maple and cherry. Which one you cut matters downstream, because the Carpentry Bench and the Furniture Station both care what a part is made of — harder woods make furniture that survives more hits.

Sixteen recipes, no collection deadline on any of them, and effectively the whole output feeds the carpenter. Mill in batches before anyone sits down at a bench.
