The fishing pool is a gathering resource that goes in the water rather than on the land. Rez it underwater and it sits inside a transparent, clickable ball with animated fish drifting about below and a particle effect breaking the surface, so a stocked shoreline is visible from a distance.

You need a fishing rod, and the rod is craftable. Click the pool without one and it checks for the tool and tells you it is missing. There is no bait to worry about: every tool has durability, and for now the rod's durability stands in for bait. Each cast rolls a weighted loot table — fish, oysters, crabs, baskets of coins, gold, special recipes, and a real chance of nothing at all. What you land is food, so it can be cooked, made into sushi, or eaten raw.

You can fish from up to 25 metres away, which means you do not have to be in the water to work a pool offshore. Hold left click for the owner menu and set spawn points exactly as you would on any other gatherable.

The one thing an owner should plan for: only one person can fish a source at a time. A region expecting more than one angler needs several pools scattered along the coast rather than a single showpiece in the bay — and that matters more once tournament boards arrive, where an owner picks the fish that counts, sets how long the contest runs, and players weigh their catch on the scales for first, second and third prizes.
