Watch it work

The product tutorial, start to finish.

The engineering table does two unrelated things, and the second is the one most colonists come for.

Reverse engineering works on anything you own. Choose an item from your inventory and the table names the ingredients its recipe uses. It does not tell you how much of each. That is deliberate — close enough to start guessing, not close enough to hand somebody else's work over. It costs one of the item, 50 energy and 100 CXP, it succeeds 60% of the time and improves with your level, and all three costs are spent whether it works or not.

The other half makes weapon casts. Feed it a blueprint learned at the Research Station and it produces the mould for one weapon part. A cast is single use and consumed when the part is made, but it is tradeable in the meantime — sellable on the market, or handed straight to a smith.

A cast is not the part. Metal casts go to the Forge & Anvil, wooden ones to the Carpentry Bench, and the extra ingredients are added there.

One practical warning: the table names the first thing you are short of, not everything. Turn up with a full inventory rather than fetching one ingredient at a time.

What it makes

Listed on the forum

The game database has no recipes mapped to this station yet, so there is nothing to list here automatically.

Its recipes are written up on the forum — read the full list there.

System recipes only. Recipes invented by players at open stations belong to the colonists who created them and are not listed.
