Watch it work

The product tutorial, start to finish.

Lava that only looks dangerous is scenery. This makes it dangerous.

The damage script is one prim you rez, stretch and leave. Anything inside its volume takes damage on an interval you set. Stretch it to 65 x 65 metres, set it to 100% transparent, and nobody knows the zone is there at all. It is copy, so one purchase covers the whole region.

Nine elemental types — unholy, acid, arcane, bleeding, electric, holy, fire, ice and poison — each playing its own effect on the avatar taking it, so a player can see what is hurting them. Physical damage has no effect attached, which is the point of it: traps and spikes should not glow. Set both at once if you want a hit that reads.

Phantom on and players walk into the volume; phantom off and it hurts them on contact.

Rename it. The name is what appears in the damage message — left alone players read "SLC environmental damage script", called *lava* they read lava.

Tune it in out-of-character mode. There is no upper limit, instant death is a legitimate setting for a trap and a poor one for terrain somebody has to cross, and the hit follows a player for a moment after they leave the zone.
