Watch it work
The product tutorial, start to finish.
Read it written up on the forum — the same walkthrough, with the numbers, and somewhere to ask.
The Coin Mint lets you issue your own money. Rez it and it asks you to name your coin; that name is what shows in every player's inventory and on their HUD, so it has to be unique across the grid and cannot contain spaces. Pick something that will not collide with an item name — obvious words tend to get sent back.
No profession is required. Owning the table is the qualification, and the recipe is learned once and then remembered, earning no crafting experience. The table is yours alone by default; left-click and hold opens an access list if you want to let other colonists strike coins on it.
It runs on blank coin bags, and those sit at the end of a real chain. Miners work the copper, silver and gold veins, a smelter turns the ore into ingots, and a smith presses each ingot with an empty pouch into a bag. One copper bag becomes 100 coins in a minute; a silver bag becomes 1,000 in five minutes; a gold bag becomes 10,000 in twenty-five. A hundred of the smallest unit makes one of the next, so a gold bag is a single gold coin's worth.
Collect the output yourself — anyone can pick up coins left sitting on the table. Adoption is the last step and it happens elsewhere: a region owner admins their region server and selects which currency the region runs on, and the list only offers coins they physically hold. The same applies to vendors and the rental server, which is what makes a colony-run exchange possible.
