A hive sits on your land and fills in its own time. Honey does not come home in a basket like fruit does: it wants a clay pot, the same vessel that milk comes back in, thrown at the pottery table by a farmer who has reached level one.
What you do with it afterwards is the point. Honey is a cooking ingredient, and it is also a fermentable — pitch it with water and a yeast at the fermentor and which of the six strains you choose decides how strong the result is and how much sweetness it leaves behind.
Like every gatherable it takes the standard owner menu on a long left click: rename it, set who may use it, turn the hover text on or off, and set spawn points so it moves somewhere else on the region each time it is emptied.
